This guy now owns the course record on foot
Yes I have don some races in close proximity. I’ve tried sitting on my butt, running real short/easy and running some decent mileage. My best subsequent runs were always after “as close to normal training as possible.”
1. With no runs between I was tight and sore for the next event.
2. With a few runs I could move, but it was not comfortable or pretty.
3. With “normal” training I was ready to race, as little as a week later, and with 2-3 weeks between raring to go.
Last fall, beginning with my 2 mile run after arriving home from NC24 in Cleveland and ending with my 4 mile run Friday morning before Hinson Lake I ran 50 in those 6 days. (M 4 am, 6 pm T same, W 4 am, 10 Crawling 2:11 pm Th 4 am 6 pm) I ran almost the exact same races one week apart as a result. Had I not run in between I’d have fared far worse.
Had the next race been 2 weeks later I’d have gone ahead and run a 20 miler on the weekend in between.
